Testimonial for Chris Sutton
I was a Type 2 Insulin dependant Diabetic who had various co-morbidities and was at the tender age of 37 when I began to research the Bariatric Surgery options following years of yo-yo weight increases and losses and countless dieting.
I was initially referred via my GP to the local Bariatric Team in the West Midlands for assessment of Bariatric Surgery - I fitted all of the Local PCT Criteria for Surgery but was denied initial funding and again on appeal - to which I can honestly say now 'Thank God I was denied!'
As a result, with my varying health conditions and problems my weight had spiralled out of control and was at my heaviest, when the final straw broke and I decided enough is enough and decided to pursue the Private Funding route.
Praise the Lord, that I found the EMBS Team in Leicester via the Internet and was referred to Chris Sutton and the Team and was seen in January 2009. Chris assessed me and Surgery options discussed and it was decided in partnership with me that the best option for me was to have a Gastric Bypass, and was pencilled in for Surgery Mid March 2009, which gave me valuable thinking time to constantly review all the options and change my mind or see Chris on however many Pre-op appointments to ask more questions.
All Pre and Post op care, complications and mortality was discussed prior to my admission and I felt fully equipped and informed prior to having the procedure.
I was morbidly obese prior to the operation and was nearing 25 stone prior to the operation.
I have since had the operation, which was performed by miraculous key hole surgery, although I was forewarned and consented for operation that key hole surgery may have had to be abandoned and my abdomen fully opened during the procedure, and have lost over 7 stone since the operation some 10 months post op.
My life has been saved and revolutionised by Chris and I owe everything to him - it may sound corny, but Chris and his team particular Lisa Graham the Specialist Bariatric Nurse are 'Life Savers!'
My life is now transformed, I am able to eat properly albeit smaller healthy portions, and I have definitely spent the best Money can Buy - I initially thought this back in 2001 when I had Private Corrective Eye Surgery, but Chris's talents and expertise far outway anything that has happened in my life!
I can definitely recommend an Assessment by Chris and the Team either from and NHS or if funding is not forthcoming from the NHS, from a Private Funding source, as I am now wearing Large/X-Large clothing instead of Super Size Clothing and have never felt better - I am even now INSULIN DEPENDENT FREE! How fabulous is that - My Life is Back!

Testimony to Dr Chris Sutton
In June of this year I plucked up the courage, after twelve months of deliberation, to make an appointment to see Dr Chris Sutton. I was nervous being weighed but Chris didn't bat an eye as the scales shot up. He didn't judge or belittle me and was respectful of my decision for surgery.
I had spent a long time researching and knew in my mind what type of operation I wanted but I was still talked through all the options. The risks and benefits were thoroughly addressed and I went into surgery completely reassured and at ease.
I now continue to recover well and any concerns that I have had along the way have been immediately answered by phone calls, e-mails or by 'drop of the hat' consultations.
I have nothing but praise for this doctor who has become a friend and who has given me back my health. I would recommend Chris to anyone contemplating surgery. He is a very caring surgeon who I trusted with my life. My only regret through all of this is that I took so long to decide to have surgery.
